 l student concert of the advanced workshops offers
  not only the fruits of an intensive week of learn
 ing\, creativity\, and collaboration\, but also a 
 glimpse into the future directions of Yiddish musi
 c and culture.</p>\n \n <p>This year\, the song wo
 rkshops explored two strikingly contrasting repert
 oires: songs made famous by the stars of the Ameri
 can Yiddish theater and songs of Hasidic women tha
 t were carefully guarded from public exposure for 
 generations. Meanwhile\, the instrumental workshop
  forged new connections between traditional klezme
 r repertoire and style and the experimental\, mult
 icultural sounds of contemporary klezmer music.</p
